Chelation Therapy

Chelation therapy is an intravenous remedy for removal of heavy and harmful metals throughout your body. More of us are exposed to heavy metals more often than we would like to believe or hope. The truth is that there are pesticides in the food we eat, pollutants in the air (especially near big cities, like ours of Chicago), and more. Toxic heavy metals found in our everyday lives are lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium. These metals affect the body negatively in a variety of ways. Some of the most common adverse health effects we find are abdominal pain, consistent dehydration, abnormal heartbeat, and signs of anemia. If and when metals are not flushed out regularly, the build-up can lead to heavy metal poisoning in the body. The health risk is much more serious and severe as the levels reach a high count. Heavy metal poisoning leads to kidney and liver damage, memory loss, gastrointestinal problems, lesions and more depending on the type of metal doing the damage in the body.

Chelation therapy fluid is created by a chemical compound made up of a metal ion and a chelating agent. A chelating agent has several bonds that can combine to single metal ions. These two agents mixed creates a medication called ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid. The product is not harmful to your body and will quickly retrieve excess metal and flush it out of your blood. If you have any symptoms or have seen any signs that you think may relate to metal poisoning or exposure, contact a professional to get a medical examination and see if chelation therapy will be the best solution for you.

BEMER Therapy

Bioelectromagnetic energy regulation therapy, or BEMER therapy, is a non-invasive instrument that delivers energy and improves microcirculation in the blood. Microcirculation is involved in the functioning of the entire human body through veins, arteries, and capillaries. It is known as “the main road of health.” The capillaries nurture and deliver nutrients to cells as well as process the removal of unhealthy cells. The performance capacity of all of our organs and the state of our health is dependent (to an extent) on the adaptation of the organ’s blood supply to the blood vessels through the capillaries. If you are sedentary to moderately active, you may likely have slow, inefficient blood flow. The BEMER system is a biophysical application that activates the body’s own powers of healing through a healthy blood flow system. A unique biorhythmic impulse is sent through the body activating and moving blood through the body’s system quickly and efficiently. Our BEMER system is available to any patient and if you have questions about whether BEMER is right for you, contact our physicians for a consultation.

Chronic Fatigue

Chronic fatigue syndrome/myalgic encephalomyelitis affects more than one million Americans today. Many people will suffer from low thyroid hormone count or depression, affecting their energy levels as well, but these illnesses are more easily recognized and treated. CFS does not hold any particular symptom or manifestation that marks it as diagnosable and has a step by step treatment plan. The disease is a diagnosis of exclusion, which means that all other conditions and illnesses that cause the symptoms are ruled out and CFS is pinpointed. The prognosis for CFS/ME is unique and varies from patient to patient. Our medical doctors will examine and assess several aspects of each patients expression of the illness to indicate best practices and medications to manage and minimalize this syndrome. Chronic fatigue syndrome is not physically painful but can bear a weight heavier than many other illnesses in that it takes away much of the patients time and freedom. We specialize in helping you get back on track to feeling the best you can, living with chronic fatigue system.

Far Infrared Sauna

Relaxing in a sauna room for five to twenty-five minutes can drastically change the way you feel as well as prevent and clear up pains and ailments. Saunas create natural heat using an infrared lamp located in closed-off quarters. At LaCava, we use the sauna to help treat our patients with cardiovascular, circulatory, and weight loss problems. Not only do we use this as therapy for patients with medical conditions, but we also recommend it to those who struggle with stress, insomnia, depression, and anxiety. Far infrared saunas help relax overused joints, reduce inflammation, boosts cardiovascular performance, cleanses the skin, allows toxins to be flushed from the body, and aids in recovery. We have seen incredible results with our patients using this simple room and recommend you take advantage of one too.

Homeopathy

We strongly believe homeopathy is a more natural and effective approach to healing minor sicknesses and ailments. The term comes from the ideology of a German physician named Samuel Hahnemann who would treat sick people with the same substance that would get a healthy person sick. The concept is in that “likes cure likes.” One example of a homeopathic solution is the remedy ‘kali phosphoricum’ for insomnia. Kali phosphoricum is a nerve nutrient cell salt that controls the body’s pain signals (that which are being affected by insomnia) by localizing and resolving pain as well as by calming the body’s responses. The science and methods are intuitive and have proven efficient for over two hundred and fifty years. If you suffer from insomnia, asthma, depression, stress, anxiety, minor ear infections, or arthritis look into homeopathic solutions and see if one of our expert staff can help you find an effective solution to your need.

Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber Therapy

Many people know what an oxygen chamber is, or at least instinctively perceive that it has something to do with the body’s oxygen. Though, many do not truly understand the significance of hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy and the role of oxygenation on the body. This type of therapy replenishes the body’s cells by pushing pure oxygen molecules to the furthermost parts of your body that are otherwise starved of fresh oxygen daily. The body’s natural healing response activates when the oxygen level in a patient’s blood increases. Oxygen-rich blood stimulates the growth of new blood vessels, reduces swelling and inflammation in joints and injured sites, plus it fights infection.  How does an oxygen chamber accomplish this? The chamber is a full body capsule that releases 100% oxygen while increasing the atmospheric pressure, pushing the oxygen deeper into the lungs and body. You will feel rejuvenated stepping out of the chamber and see even more results over the next few days. Whether you have a medical condition, are recovering from strains on your body, or have stubborn wounds, HBOT will get you to feeling your best, quicker.

Infectious Diseases

Infectious diseases are sourced from and spread by living organisms, which is what makes them so easily spread and replenishable. The most common types seen and treated are bacterial, viral, fungal and parasite sicknesses. These, of course, open up to an even more broad range. For example, a viral disease can be anything from the common cold to more serious diseases such as AIDS; and bacterial diseases are responsible for other common illnesses such as strep throat, tuberculosis, and urinary tract infections. We aim to diagnose, treat, and cure all types of infectious diseases to help you get back on your feet as well as protect your loved ones from catching the same sort. Infectious diseases are pesky and somewhat hard to avoid. They can be spread by humans, bugs carrying disease, or even contaminated food. Inevitably we come across one or more of these every single day. If you notice any symptoms out of the ordinary, get checked as soon as possible to catch the illness and ‘nip it in the bud’ before spreading occurs.

Insulin Potentiation Therapy

Insulin potentiation therapy (IPT) is an alternative to chemotherapy and radiation. These two therapies use high amounts of a radioactive substance which, yes, is harmful to cancer cells but is also harmful to healthy cells in the body. IPT works adjunctly to chemo in using a lesser dose. Insulin Potentiation is an intravenous treatment that injects insulin into the bloodstream to increase the permeability of diseased cell membranes. A small dose of chemo is immediately injected afterward and the higher permeability of these damaged cells accepts more chemo, quicker. This lures the chemo to specific areas, leaving less to be able to flow freely throughout the body affecting healthy cells and tissue. We believe insulin potentiation therapy is one of the safest and most innovative approaches to treating cancer in our day and age. IPT may not be ideal for all forms and stages of cancer. Our team will conduct a thorough examination and discuss with you options before initiating treatments.

Integrative Cancer Treatments

A cancer diagnosis alone is substantial news to sit with. Beyond that, treatments can feel incredibly overwhelming, tiring, and burdensome. At LaCava, our goal is to help you find the balance between the hard have-to’s and the valuable get-to’s. Most all therapy types are worthwhile, although, having the ‘get-to’s’ as part of your regimen can feel more rewarding and intuitive. Graham Wood, a leukemia patient, once made the statement “A cancer diagnosis is a reminder to live as fully as possible, not a sign to bunker down.”

It can seem overwhelming to know where to begin and deciphering between which options are best for you. Making meditation, massage, healthy eating, or exercising a regular part of your fight plan can lift your spirits while still fighting back. Our doctors set an integrative plan and look at every aspect of your life and diagnosis concomitantly to find a plan that addresses the medical treatments and at home therapies that reward and uplift you rather than adding stress to your plate. We will help you at any and through every stage, adjusting plans and giving you helpful tools and information on how to deal with malignancies.

Integrative Mold Treatments

There are many different species of mold and several types of ailments that will arise from mold exposure. If you are allergic to mold, likely you will experience symptoms of allergies such as sneezing, itchiness, coughing, and skin rash. If you are aware of the allergy and have proper allergy medicine, inform your doctor and proceed with the medicines that have worked best for you. If you’ve never experienced mold exposure and this happens, see a professional immediately to arrest the spread of the allergen in your body. Our doctors will help you determine steps to take for future exposures.

Molds themselves are not toxic or poisonous. However, there are mold species that are “toxigenic,” meaning they produce mycotoxins (myco- is a prefix that means fungal). These mycotoxins are byproducts of metabolic processes causing chemical reactions in the body. Toxic mold exposure can become deadly if not treated promptly and correctly. If you have been exposed to more dangerous molds such as stachybotrys chartarum (black mold) or cryptococcus neoformans, it is pertinent to be treated professionally.

IV Therapy

IV therapy, also commonly referred to as vitamin drip, is a high dose of natural vitamins, minerals, and amino acids delivered to your bloodstream for maximum absorbency- bypassing the stomach’s breakdown process. The reason this has become so popular is the ease of treatment and the effectiveness of the delivery. When we take supplements orally, our body does not process and absorb all the nutrients. In fact, the body will often lose over half of what is taken. This is due to a vitamin’s bioavailability. Bioavailability is the stomach and intestines ability to absorb the nutrients into the bloodstream based on the presence of other key determinants. When IV therapy is used, the vitamins bypass the breakdown and processing in the stomach and are delivered to respective areas via the bloodstream. Intravenous therapy is for anyone and everyone wanting to feel healthier as well as patients needing a higher intake of proteins, vitamin C, etcetera. A healthy person living in Chicago may only need to treat 1-2 times per month while someone who is sick can take advantage of this treatment 3-4 times per week. If you are curious about a schedule that is right for you, come to our center and we will help you get on track to becoming a healthier you.

Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease (Borreliosis) is spread by the infectious bite of a tick, most often a deer tick. As most of you know, these ticks are in fact prominent in the Chicago area. Lyme disease causes lethargy, flu symptoms such as fever and headaches, and a characteristic skin rash called erythema migrans that appears as a bullseye pattern rash. It is important to be able to recognize the signs and get the disease treated before it spreads or permanently damages cells. Getting on an antibiotic as soon as possible allows for quick reconciliation of symptoms. If you are not sure if you have been bitten by an infected tick but know you have been bitten and are worried about symptoms showing up, get into a clinic as soon as possible to be diagnosed and treated if needs be before the symptoms arise.

Nutritive Therapy

Nutritive therapy is healing and wellness starting with gut health and working outward. Also called medical nutrition therapy, the process is exactly as the name makes it seem.

We are made up of the minerals, vitamins, micronutrients, and macronutrients we consume. If the body is manifesting a sickness, if not triggered or caused by external sources, it is likely that the origin of the sickness is a lack or over-consumption of a nutrient.

Our nutritional and medical experts will do an analysis of the food you eat and determine based on the information as well as your caloric need and metabolic rate what you are missing in your diet. We will often have you keep a food log to get actual amounts of foods ingested to be able to make small adjustments at a time that can help make the switch to a healthier lifestyle that does not feel like a chore. It can be overwhelming to change an entire diet overnight so we work alongside you and make small, impactful adjustments to get you on the quickest, most comfortable path to feeling your best again.

Come Spend A Day In St. Charles!

St. Charles, Illinois lies west of Chicago. The city’s motto is “pride of the fox” on account of the Fox River, which runs through it. Founded in 1834, it remained a small town for many years due to being well isolated. It did not have train tracks, and the Fox River was too small for large boats to navigate. In the 1880s, a direct line to Chicago was built. St. Charles was also home to many “stations” along the Underground Railway, and there was an open abolitionist group, founded in 1842, called the Kane County Anti-Slavery Society.Source

History of St. Charles:

St. Charles is rich in history!

St. Charles was the location of the Native American community for the chief of the Pottawatomie that inhabited the area. A city park overlooking the river was dedicated to this Native American past. After the Black Hawk War in 1832, the entire area of the Fox Valley was opened to American settlement. Evan Shelby and William Franklin staked the first claim in what is now St. Charles in 1833. They came back in 1834 with their families from Indiana, and were joined by over a dozen other families later that year.Source
