Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)
Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is a type of therapy in which the body is “submerged” in a pressurized oxygen rich environment. This process enables the body to absorb higher concentrations of oxygen into the blood stream thus increasing circulation to oxygen starved areas.
HBOT can be used for accelerating healing, such as with trauma, post-surgical repair and non-healing sores or ulcerations. HBOT is also used for repairing damage to the nervous system, for example, post-stroke, brain injuries and autism.
Because HBOT floods the body with oxygen and human physiology is dependent on oxygen for the production of cellular energy, hyperbaric oxygen has been increasing in popularity for the use of chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS).
